If you are in the vicinity of Garsdale Railway Station, on the Settle to Carlisle route, you may want to pay this one a visit. 

The only access and view point (without trespassing) is up through the moorland opposite the "Coal Road", (This is the road which takes you from the A684 to Garsdale Station, and eventually over the top to Dentdale). 

Park on this lane if possible or at the train station, and walk back down the hill to the main road. 

You will see the signpost at the side of the stile, however there is a gate a few meters further along. 

Go through either and follow the wall on the left, in a straight line towards the wooden Power pylon, here, head left toward the gate in the wall. 

Once through continue straight on. 

The pathway overlooks the falls and it is a steep and slippy climb down to the fence, which is as near as you will get.

Along the course of the River Dee in Dentdale, there are several falls of interest, this one, however, is on Cowgill beck which feeds into the Dee. 

Parking is difficult along this route due to the narrow roads, but it is possible to park at Lea Yate (SD 760 869), by the telephone box but this will add another 450m onto your walk.

Park where indicated and walk along the road towards St John's Church. Just before you reach it there is a lane on the right. Walk up this lane to the end, turning left over the bridge there. The track then turns right, so follow this for another 130m. As the track bears left, there is a gate into a field Go through this gate and across the field. Exit the gate at the other side then turn right to the stream.

Follow the course of the River Dee along Dentdale and you will discover many small  but pretty falls just at the road side. 
Further along the road, look out for the Red Post Box stood on its own, just opposite the is a gap in the wall where it is possible to climb down to the top of the main falls and wade across if not too deep or in full flow- caution, the rock can be slippy!

Parking along the roadside is difficult as the roads are narrow and there are not many places to park safely. 

Scow Force has the benefit of being close to Deeside House Hostel so it may be possible to park there, but please don't block access!  

The Falls are situated between the falls at Denthead Viauct and Artengill Viaduct so can be visited at the same time.

Follow the Road (B6255) from Ribblehead to Hawes and take the turning left toward Dentdale. 

The next viaduct on the Settle to Carlisle is Denthead. 

Park underneath the Viaduct. 

Walk through the arches towards a small pack horse bridge. Cross this bridge and return with the beck passing alongside underneath the road.

A series of drops can be carefully reached - (depending on water levels) until the beck meets the Dee.

Arten Gill Force

Near the small hamlet of Stone House in Dentdale, towers the impressive viaduct of Arten Gill. Through the centre of the arches tumbles the gill itself.

Small Steps

Starting in small steps it then powers over 2 steep drops before heading down to meet the river Dee. 

Park in the layby at the side of the narrow Stone House Bridge. Take the track uphill for a distance of 500m (approx) until you reach the viaduct. Access to the falls is difficult as it is very steep. About half way up the track there is a gate on the right, into a field from which the bottom of the falls can be reached - WITH CARE! 

The land is private so ask permission beforehand!
